FRIBUSH, TEITEL, DEITCH

DTF to Release Debut LP May 23rd!
Rising star organist Sam Fribush and guitarist Ari Teitel (The Rumble/Dumpstaphunk) have joined forces with Lettuce drummer Adam Deitch to craft a groundbreaking organ trio album that merges vintage funky soul-jazz with modern hip-hop production. Their highly anticipated debut LP, recorded straight to a vintage Tascam tape machine at Colorado Sound Studios, will be released on May 9th, offering a fresh take on the classic organ trio format.

The project grew from a deep-rooted musical connection between Greensboro native Fribush and Detroit-born Teitel, who first met while performing at a church in Uptown New Orleans. Fribush, a New England Conservatory graduate, has built a reputation for his soulful organ work and collaborations with artists like Charlie Hunter and Hiss Golden Messenger. His ability to seamlessly blend traditional jazz with modern grooves has made him a sought-after musician in the contemporary jazz scene.

Teitel, known for his genre-defying approach and commanding stage presence, has deep roots in Detroit's vibrant music scene. As a founding member of the two-time GRAMMY-nominated band The Rumble, he has also toured with New Orleans funk powerhouse Dumpstaphunk and contributed to numerous projects showcasing his expertise in funk, rock, and jazz traditions.

To elevate their sound, Fribush and Teitel recruited Adam Deitch, a globally acclaimed drummer and producer whose extensive experience spans jazz, funk, hip-hop, and electronic music. A founding member of funk band Lettuce and one-half of electronic duo Break Science, Deitch has collaborated with iconic artists such as John Scofield, Talib Kweli, and Pretty Lights. His impeccable timing and deep grooves made him the perfect fit for the trio.

Mixing engineer Mack Major, fresh off a GRAMMY win for his work with Avery Sunshine, added a refined touch to the project, ensuring the trio's dynamic interplay and intricate arrangements were captured in vivid detail.

The album features a mix of original compositions and eclectic covers, including a soulful rendition of The Allman Brothers' "Midnight Rider" and a reimagining of Bel Biv DeVoe’s 1990 new jack swing hit "Poison." From the greasy Meters-style funk of "A La Gatur" to the spacey, hip-hop-tinged "Good Morning," the record showcases the trio's wide-ranging influences and impeccable musicianship.

By merging the rhythmic essence of classic '60s and '70s soul-jazz with modern beat-driven sensibilities, Fribush, Teitel & Deitch have created a sound that is both nostalgic and refreshingly contemporary. Their debut LP promises to captivate listeners and cement the trio's place in the modern jazz and funk landscape.
